Pana’ewa zen gardens a real orchid zoo

I go to Hilo about as often as I go to the mainland, which isn’t that often, but this time (well, this year) it was the Hilo Marathon that had drawn us over to the rainy side of the island.
Chanda was running in the half marathon, which was to be held on a Sunday in mid March. So on the Saturday before, Chanda, Sawyer and I departed Captain Cook early in the afternoon and made the long trek south on Highway 11. We arrived just in time for the 4pm registration at the Hilo Hawaiian on Banyan Drive, then later found ourselves driving around aimlessly on the strange yet scenic one way streets of downtown Hilo.

KDOC meets with Temple Board

Turns out the grotto design was simply too enticing for its own good. Members from the KDOC met with the Temple Board on March 31 to address questions or concerns surrounding the orchid grotto, which was brought under fire at the monthly meeting earlier in March.

Carl’s AOS Update

Just want to say thank you for your membership to the AOS and also for your expertise in growing orchids. Just last month I confessed to the club that I am having difficulty pollinating my vanilla. March Madness

There were times at the March monthly meeting when the Kona Daifukuji Orchid Club felt a bit divided, and not just because groups were re-organized before break.

Apparently some rumors had been flying around about the grotto project, and not all of it was positive. Dick was justifiably confused, and addressed the group saying he had spoken to Rev. Jiko numerous times about the grotto and she was in full support.
