On Tuesday, September 30, Joyce, her husband Ron, June, Betty and Hunter met at the temple. Hunter brought the beautiful golden yellow ceramic pot that Rev. Jiko had selected. The pottery was purchased at Bela Pietra.
Joyce and Ron leveled a spot for the pot along the sidewalk fronting the temple, and Hunter planted the budding white water lily in it. Rev. Jiko later reported the flower opened that afternoon!
After setting up the pot, the group planted Vanda Miss Joaquin around the mission grounds and in the orchid grotto with orchids donated by the Orchid Isle Project.
“I’m glad I went as I learned how easy it was to plant the Joaquim vanda orchids,” said June. “It was great to learn garden techniques from Betty and Joyce! When we were done, the newly planted orchids looked like they belong there!”
Rev. Jiko conveyed her warmest thanks to the KDOC members for the beautiful addition to the temple garden.
Mahalos to June and Joyce for the reporting and photos!
