Optimizing Orchid Photos

By Fern Gavelek

To get the best close up shot of several blossoms on a stem, frame your photo so only one or two flowers are your main subjects. Notice how these two cattleyas are positioned in the frame so they are centrally located, although the plant has several blossoms. To determine what angle is best, walk around the plant and view which cluster of flowers presents the most interesting photo. Focus on the bloom closest to the camera.
